West Tennessee plastics plant closing

UNION CITY, Tenn. (AP) - A company that makes plastic interior trim for the automotive industry is closing a plant in West Tennessee.

Plastech Corp. plant manager James Arnold says the facility in Kenton will shut down around June 30, laying off about 200 workers.

Arnold says a business downturn forced the Dearborn, Mich.-based company to declare Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The plant is the major employer in the town of about 1,300 that is 15 miles south of Union City.
