Suspect faces charges in Southaven double murder

A Horn Lake man has been charged in a triple shooting that left two people dead and injured another in early Sunday evening in Southaven.

Southaven police charged Clarence Standard, 20, with two counts of murder in the deaths of James Liner and Cody Faircloth, as well as one count of aggravated assault in the shooting of an un-named third victim.

Officers were called to the Oak Ridge Apartments in Southaven just before 8:00pm Sunday after reports of gunfire there.  Upon arrival, they found a Hyundai Elantra that had crashed into two other vehicles in the complex's parking lot.

The driver of the car, Faircloth, and his front seat passenger, Liner, both suffering from gunshot wounds, later died of their injuries.  Another victim ran from the scene and was found in the driveway of a nearby house.

Investigators said the shootings stemmed from an argument the victims and the shooting suspect had a short time before the incident.

Standard, who was taken into custody in Memphis, is awaiting extradition back to DeSoto County.
