Family trying to figure out how man's body wound up in daughter's grave

It is a baffling case where a woman's body wrongly identified. Now a family is trying to piece together how a man's body wound up in their daughter's grave.

Rochelle Thomas was 34-years old when Vicksburg, Mississippi police say her car ran off an embankment and killed her.

"When I got the call I told them...I said that I'm going to come down and identify the remains they said there is nothing to identify she don't have a face on her," mother Willie Mae Galmore said.

Galmore said from the beginning she had suspicions about the wreck.

Speaking by phone, Coahoma County Coroner Scotty Meredith said her suspicions turned out to be warranted. Meredith then exhumed the body for DNA testing.

He was the one who broke the news to the family. The body buried in this Clarksdale cemetery was not Rochelle Thomas. It was a man's body.

Meridith said how another body got in Thomas' grave is a mystery.

"Oh it could have been a mix up at the morgue if they had two decomposing bodies there at the same time," Meredith said.

Whatever caused the mix up, the Thomas' family members want to know what happened to their daughter.
