Baptist school teacher accused of fondling student
School teacher Ronald Nichols of Olive Branch has been charged with sexual battery by an authority figure.
Nichols teaches at the tiny Grace Baptist Church School in Byhalia, Mississippi. His accuser is a 13-year-old female student at the school.
The girl claims Nichols came to her house in Shelby County, where she was home alone. She claims Nichols pulled her on top of him, tried to kiss her, and then stuck his hand under her blouse.
According to investigators, Nichols admitted he had been to the girl's home.
"The investigators will determine anything they can to tear somebody down. That's what their job is," said Nichols' father. "He hasn't admitted to nothing, and you're running all over the screen that he's charged with rape."
Ronald Nichols' father isn't the only one standing by his son. Nichols also has the support of fellow church members and friends.
"You could talk to anyone who knows Ronald Nichols -- he's just of the utmost characters and just the finest Christian man you'd ever meet," said friend Dianna Carr in a telephone interview.
Ronald Nichols is scheduled to appear in court next week, at which time his bond will likely be set.
