Relatives spend holiday searching for missing mother

Elizabeth Ferguson's family spent mothers day pouring over maps as they search Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas looking for the missing 86-year-old.

"I know that time is against us," daughter Cheryl Fenney said.  "It's cold outside today, and her health is frail."

Cheryl Fenney said her mother suffers from high blood pressure and dementia, and hasn't had her medication since disappearing last Monday.

"And its hard for me to hear 'Happy Mothers Day' today," she said. "Every young person I've seen in the last few hours, I've told them to be sure and hug their mothers today, and tell them happy mothers day today and appreciate them, and to please say any extra prayer for mine that she'll come home today."

Relatives say Mrs. Ferguson's last known location was in her driveway.  She was supposed to be just going around the corner for a trip to the doctor.  The trip was only supposed to take 15 minutes, but she never made it.

Family members are circulating a flyer that shows the green Mercury Sable Ferguson was last seen in.  Tips have been coming into police. The best lead yet involves a possible sighting at a business in Millington.

"This woman came in and asked for directions, and they said they saw her car on television, and that's what triggered it, and that's being checked out," Fenney said.

Relatives described Elizabeth Ferguson as very independent.  She took up painting after retiring from the Defense Depot, and then wrote a book.

Fighting back tears, Ferguson's daughter Cheryl had a message for her mother.

"Just tell my mother that we're all searching for her, that we love her so much, and she has people praying for her and helping find her from far away places."

Relatives say their prayer is that God take care of Elizabeth Ferguson.
