When you think of High School Football Coach Tim Thompson, two things come to mind..
1 is winning..
The other..is trouble.
It seems Thompson may be in trouble again before he even officially starts as the New Head Coach at Ridgeway High School.
Ridgeway apparently used players from other schools during Spring Practice..
That's a violation.
One of the Most successful prep coaches in Memphis History..Thompson was getting a second chance in the City Schools.
He was suspended for 3-years back in 2001 for accepting $14-Hundred Dollars from a Coach at the University of Kentucky to recruit his players at Melrose.
He's currently employed at Fayette-Ware in Somerville, where he turned that program from a dormat to a Playoff contender..
His New Job as Ridgeway Coach technically doesn't start till the fall.
M.I.A.A. Director Wayne Weedon took part in the decision to give Thompson a second chance along with Memphis City Schools' Superintendent Dan Ward.
"I think it will be difficult for him to be the new head coach at Ridgeway given this situation, which definitely jeopardizes the faith we had in him to give him this appointment."
Ridgeway suspended Spring Practice and proposed cutting back a number of practices in the fall as its' penalty.
The TSSAA will have the ultimate say on what happens with the football program.
