New dorm at ASU to be for honor students

JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State is about to build a new dormitory, just for its honor students.

The university is to break ground on May 28 for the Honors College Residence Hall and hopes to have it ready for the fall term in 2009. The dorm is to have 222 beds in fully furnished rooms that will be single- or double-occupancy.

The building will include a 2,500 square-foot classroom where "innovative programming" will be offered. The classroom will be the first of its type in a residential facility on the ASU-Jonesboro campus.

About 400 ASU undergraduates are in the Honors College at ASU.

The building will go up between Whitaker Street and University Loop East, south of Danner Street.
