Four children taken to LeBonheur after being locked in van

Four children under the age of five were taken to LeBonheur after being locked inside a van while their mother went shopping.

The incident happened at the Goodwill on Austin Peay in Raleigh.

A citizen called police and then broke the vehicle's window to free the children after she realized they'd been left alone.

Police arrived on the scene and medics transported the children to LeBonheur Children's Medical Center in non-critical condition. The children's mother rode in the ambulance.

"Right now we have investigators en route and it's going to be a pending investigation, and they'll determine whether or not charges will be brought," said Major Gregory Sanders with the Memphis Police Department.
