YOUR TURN: Christina Moore on the Janis Fullilove drama

The "Your Turn" mail box was full this week, but no issue received more comments than the stories regarding Memphis City Councilwoman Janis Fullilove.

Fullilove has been in the news because of stories about a car wreck, a charge of driving under the influence and a threatening comment toward our reporter Janis Broach.

The most interesting letter came from Christina Moore, who says she's one of Fullilove’s former students. In her words:

"As a former student of Councilwoman Janis Fullilove, I have seen firsthand that she doesn't mince words but she, as a public official, overstepped her bounds by threatening Ms. Broach.  Ms. Fullilove taught our speech class that publicly-elected officials certainly have a right to free speech but also must have the restraint to be responsible with that right.  Strong-minded, gifted, and usually well-spoken women like Ms. Fullilove are a rarity in our world and I am disappointed to see her using her gifts to attack others."

That's Christina Moore's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
