Termites cause damage at National Civil Rights Museum

Termites are invading a Memphis landmark.  The wood-eating bugs have eaten through the basement of the National Civil Rights Museum.

Tuesday, James Pest Control donated their services to clear out the infestation.

"It's fairly bad," Lanier James said. "We have a good bit of damage. It's structural damage. It's what you always dread finding."

Officials said damaged caused by the bugs won't put members of the public visiting the museum in any danger- the structural damage is in the office portion of the museum.

James said this type of damage could happen to any home in the Mid-South, and suggested that every homeowner take preventative measures.
