Tigers Backup Quarterback Leaves Program

The Commercial Appeal is reporting Quarterback Matt Malouf is LEAVING the University of Memphis Football team.

Malouf was expected to compete for the starting job in the fall with Juco Transfer Arkelon Hall.

As a redshirt Freshman, Malouf played in 12 of 13 games last fall as a backup to Senior Martin Hankins.

Malouf, from Greenwood, Mississippi, was used more as a runner than a passer..and had the Tigers longest rush from scrimmage at 38-yards against Jacksonville State.

His departure leaves the Tigers with Hall, and Will Hudgens under center.

Hudgens, a pitcher on the U of M Baseball team, started 2-games last year.
