Shootout causes three-car crash on Shelby Drive

Police are investigating a shootout that caused a three-car crash Tuesday night on Shelby Drive near Getwell.

Two men fired shots at one another as they drove on Kristy Cove. One of the cars turned onto Shelby Drive, hitting another car driven by a woman. The woman's car spun out of control and hit an 18-wheeler.

The woman was transported to The Med in non-critical condition. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.

According to police, the suspect who hit the woman's car jumped out of his vehicle, told witnesses he'd been shot, and then ran away.

Police have not yet released names.
