He's arguably one of the most loveable Tigers ever to wear a Memphis Basketball Uniform..
Right now, Joey Dorsey is trying to get some "love" from all the NBA General Managers on hand in Orlando for the Leagues' annual Pre-Draft Camp.
So far, so good...
Dorsey is proving to be a hit both on the court and off at the Walt Disney Wide World of Sports Complex...
The 6, 9", 265 pound bruiser says his mission is simple...to show everyone on hand he is more than just a defensive force and a rebounder...his main jobs for the Tigers.
Dorsey's also working on his offensive game...and to try and keep from getting too nervous with all the Big Names watching in the crowd.
"The first drill I did, I went 1 for 5...and I looked up and I saw Larry Bird...i got nerves.. I missed a couple, then I hit 4-for-5 .. He winked at me, and I looked at him and said, 'heah, I can shoot it...i can shoot the ball out here."
Larry Bird is team President of the Indiana Pacers.
Currently pegged to be one of the First Picks in the second round, Dorsey says he's not sure where he'll go.
"Not yet..mid first..early second.. Anywhere I land will be a dream from me. From where I came from out of Baltimore..that situation i lived in back home. i can't believe i can be picked in the NBA Draft. I'm very happy and fortunate to still be playing ball."
Dorsey went 3 for 5 in his first scrimmage today, with 4 rebounds and 3-assists in helping his team to a 75-to-70 victory.
The NBA Pre-Draft camp runs through Friday.
The Draft is June 26th.
