Officials hunt for suspects of tree vandalism

Five trees were cut down in a Marion High School courtyard with chainsaws. Trees planted 15 years ago in memory of residents.

"I think its something. I couldn't believe they did something like this," parent Marvin Jones said.

Parent Phyllis Bradley agreed.

"I think it is so sad because it will take a long time for them to grow back. If they wanted to do vandalize, do something that's not so permanent," Bradley said.

Students who just graduated from Marion think it was a senior prank done by upcoming seniors.

"They decided to be stupid and ignorant and follow their elders and cut down more trees which I think is retarded," former student Hannah Turner said.

Turner is talking about what some students in her class did. They cut a tree down as a senior prank.

Beth Any Jackson is quick to say she had nothing to do with it. She said school officials tried to find out who did it.

"They threatened to take away our prom," Jackson said.

She said they never did and they never found out who cut the first tree down.

Now the hunt is on to find out who cut down the huge trees.

School officials and the police are looking for suspects.
