Police say they have nabbed the "squatter robber"

Memphis police announced they've arrested the "squatter robber."

Memphis Police say Anthony Scott was the mastermind behind all 42 robberies.

Police named him the "squatter robber" because of the way he walked and the way he jumped onto the counter during the course of an armed robbery.

In an afternoon news conference, police announced that they had caught the "squatter robber."

"He was hitting randomly at any given date and time when the businesses were open. Hard work... trying to set up times and set up on a pattern," Lt. Robert Shemwell of the Safe Streets Task Force said.

Scott's cousin John Scott was arrested and charged as the getaway driver from the latest robbery. Investigators said they do not know how many, if any, other robberies he was involved in.

The big break came this Wednesday after the O'Reilly Auto Parts store on Cleveland got robbed. They believe Scott likely got away with nearly $50,000 over the course of the past two years. Investigators said Scott was skilled at his craft.

Memphis police said this case will be turned over to the U-S Attorney's office to prosecute in federal court.
