Abused puppy Mack dies

The puppy called "Miracle Mack" has died.

The four-month-old shepherd mix was found in April stabbed, beaten and stuffed in a plastic bag. His face was covered with red spray paint. Authorities believed the attack may have been gang-related.

Mack was barely alive when he was found. The puppy battled for his life for weeks, but he was put to sleep over the weekend. The Humane Society says Mack had no feeling in his hind legs, preventing his bones from ever allowing him to walk again.

The Humane Society offered a reward back in April for information leading to the person or people responsible for the abuse, but there were no leads.

Around the same time Mack was found, another puppy was found brutally beaten on the side of a Memphis road. That puppy, a four-month-old pit-bull dubbed Bruiser, died in late April.

"Tennesseans should have no tolerance for violence against the creatures who share our world," said HSUS Tennessee state director Leighann McCollum.
