The Memphis Grizzlies will start their NBA Pre Draft Camp tomorrow at FedExForum..
But, while management focuses on the Future...owner Michael Heisley is having a hard time getting over the past...like trading Pau Gasol to the Lakers...and who really made that deal happen.
Yahoo Sports reporter Adrian Wojnarowski recently questioned Heisley about the Trade... that's routinely being called a 1-sided deal with the Lakers getting an All-Star, while the Grizzlies get nothing more than cap space and a couple late first round picks.
The article quotes Heisley saying he doesn't know if the Grizzlies got the most value..and maybe his people, meaning General Manager Chris Wallace, should've shopped Gasol more with other teams...to maybe get a better deal.
That sounds a lot like throwing Wallace under the Bus...for a move that was mandated from the Top.
Wojnarowski writes many in the League believe Wallace was forced to turn the Gasol trade into a Salary Dump...AND say the Grizz GM would NOT have made that move on his own.
When the Deal was done back in February, Heisley clearly stated HE's the guy that's making the decisions.
Whatever decisions Heisley and/or Wallace make going forward are critical to the Franchise' Future in Memphis.
