Mississippi man held in gun trafficking case

OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Bond has been denied for a Coffeeville man facing charges of trafficking guns from Mississippi to Chicago.

U.S. Attorney Jim M. Greenlee said in a news release on Friday that Kris Dana Longstreet will be held in jail pending his trial scheduled July 21 in Aberdeen. An indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Oxford accuses Longstreet of conspiring to illegally purchase firearms from individuals and pawn shops in north Mississippi and to transport the weapons to Illinois.

Longstreet surrendered to federal authorities this week. A hearing was held in U.S. District Court in Oxford on Thursday.
