They could've sold tickets to the Grizzlies Pre-Draft Workouts at FedExForum.
That's how high the interest is in the players on Display on the practice court.
A huge crowd Monday morning at FedExForum for the Grizzlies biggest draft workout yet.
6 players in all, headlined by UCLA's Kevin Love.
Every eyeball in the organization was on him...new assistant Kevin O'Neill alongside head coach Mark Iavaroni...GM Chris Wallace...not to mention a couple dozen fans taking advantage of the open workout.
The 6'9" center can flat out shoot. Inside and outside.
With the exception of the Final Four game against Memphis...he was great all year.
Grizzlies Player Personnel Director Tony Barone says:
"He's like an old world player, that can pass and shoot and play team defense."
Love was pleased with his performance.
"I Definitely wanted to show them that I can play defense and guard longer, bigger guys. And I want to show the lateral quickness and that I can jump."
After 3 workouts and the NBA draft camp, Love has been shooting up the mock draft charts. After the college season ended he was slated to be a late lottery pick. Now listed going possibly as high as 5th to the Grizzlies.
- "I think there's a good chance I could be coming here. The Grizzlies have the 5th pick and I think I could facilitate their offense and help bring a winning attitude."
Chris General Manager Chris Wallace couldn't help but be enthused about Love's game.
"He's been working out really well and his athleticism is better than expected. "
Former Memphis Tiger Joey Dorsey had a good workout as well.
His old coach John Calipari looking on in support.
Dorsey might have a one trick pony as a rebounder in college but he's doing everything he can to show he can shoot.
Dorsey makes no bones of what he desires in the Draft.
"I wanna play here in Memphis. That's what I want. "
Now wouldn't that be something if the Grizzlies took Love with the 5th pick and Dorsey with the 28th?
