Warehouse roof collapses during strong Thursday storms - WMC Action News 5 - Memphis, Tennessee

Warehouse roof collapses during strong Thursday storms

Strong rains Thursday afternoon are believed to be the cause of a warehouse roof collapse along Highway 305 just south of Highway 78 in Olive Branch, Mississippi.

Officials said they believed rain pooled on the roof during torrential rains, leading to the collapse.

Olive Branch Assistant Police Chief Don Gammage said there were no reports of any injuries, but the area around the warehouse, located in the 9400 block of Fulmer Drive, was evacuated due to a gas leak.

The warehouse, owned by Arthur Fulmer Manufacturers, is a distribution center for motorcycle helmets, among other items.

Officials with the National Weather Service said the area received an estimated 1.75 inches of rain in a span of 15 minutes during the height of Thursday afternoon's storm.
