Testimony to wrap in teacher sex trial

Testimony is expected to wrap Thursday in the case of a Monica Cluck, a former Mid-South teacher accused of having sex with two teenage boys.

Both boys, ages 15 and 17, took the stand Wednesday, testifying they met Cluck while participating in a group she led at First Baptist Church in Marmaduke, Arkansas.

But the 17-year-old testified the sexual relationship with Cluck happened after his involvement with the group, saying, "She made a mistake. I made a mistake. It was my fault. Nobody should be here right now."

Cluck's husband testified Tuesday that he "had to find a way to prove she was cheating", so he set up surveillance in his house.

Cluck resigned from her teaching job in Paragould, Arkansas after the tape showing the alleged incident surfaced.

The state maintains Cluck was in the role of an authority figure at the time of the incident, but the defense team is trying to prove otherwise, citing the significance of the older boy's testimony.

"The key thing in his testimony was that any sexual act took place after the group had been disbanded, and that she was no longer in a position of trust or authority," said defense attorney Randel Miller.
