Summer pastime making some a target for thieves

Nothing says summer like baseball. But the summer pastime is making some people a target for thieves.

As parents looked for a home run or a stolen base, other things are getting stolen in the parking lot and it has nothing to do with baseball.

At Saint Francis of Assissi Catholic Church, the girls softball game was competitive for the girls and captivating for their families. But no one is cheering about the hits in the parking lot.

Debbie Farler said her credit cards were stolen right out of her SUV last Friday, the latest victim in a blitz of car thefts.

Debbie is not alone. The thieves have struck numerous times in the past several weeks.

Now that the alert has been issued, moms and dads are watching more than the game trying to catch a thief and throw him out before he scores big.

Memphis Police said since June first, there have been at least 73 thefts of property from vehicles in that precinct of Cordova.

Officers urging people to lock their cars doors and stow it don't show it when it comes to your valuables like a wallet or purse.
