Tenn. death row dog gets second chance as Hollywood canine actor

A dog rescued from a Nashville kill shelter is getting a new chance at life as a canine actor in Hollywood.

A golden retriever-husky mix named Wesley was rescued by a Nashville animal welfare group just days before he was scheduled to be euthanized.

When volunteers posted his photograph on a Web site, a professional animal trainer in California called saying he looked just like the double for one of her star dogs.

"We looked at her Web site and ours and sure enough, these dogs could be brothers," said Susan Heard of St. Francis Animal Welfare Group. "So Wesley is going to be trained to be a movie star. He'll learn lots of tricks and he'll be in videos, movie, tv, ad. We're just thrilled for him."

Wesley traveled first-class to California Saturday with a producer who was in Nashville working on the Hannah Montana movie.
