Two teens arrested shooting of 17-year-old in Byhalia

Two teens have been arrested in the shooting death of a Byhalia, Mississippi teen, officials said Wednesday.

Remill Mason, 15, and Telvin Campbell, 16, appeared in court Wednesday afternoon in Holly Springs, charged in the death of 17-year-old Terrell Richmond.  Investigators claim Mason pulled the trigger, while Campbell helped plan the murder.

Family members said Richmond was on his computer downloading music with two friends around 4:00 Tuesday afternoon when he was shot.

"They shot him in the back of his head, so they had to be sitting behind him," said cousin Vershonnia Richmond.

Family members said the two teens got into a spat with Richmond earlier this week.  They were at a loss to explain what happened.

"As far as he knew, everything was okay with them, friendly-wise," Vershonnia Richmond said.

Family members said they didn't know the specific reason the teens were at odds with one another.

"Everyone is upset. Emotions are very high," said cousin Stephanie Brisco. "We still have a lot of unanswered questions."

Richmond's death drew at least a hundred to the scene Tuesday evening in Byhalia.

"It drew a big crowd because it's something devastating to everybody. It's amazing. We wouldn't think something like this would happen," Vershonnia Richmond said.

Richmond's family described him as a good student. He played offense on the Byhalia High School football team, and the drums in the band. Now, Richmond's friends are trying to figure out how they will cope with him gone.

"We used to play football together," said friend Quenten Sanders. "We were friends. We used to hang out all day, every day."

Family members said it's an unbelievable tragedy that Richmond's young life is over.
