It started out with an idea from two managers on the Memphis Tigers basketball team. Now it's taken on a life of its own! This weekend at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse...a long list of former Tiger greats will compete against each other for charity. Old timers like Lorezen Wright and Penny Hardaway will be paired against some of the newer Tigers like Antonio Burks and Jeremy Hunt in 5 on 5 action.
The rosters are loaded with former and current NBA players. 8 teams in all, going head-to-head in a double elimination tournament. It costs $5 for spectators, with all proceeds going the China earthquake relief fund... and a local girls AAU team. Bryan Settle is one of the guys putting the event together.
"It really escalated to the point former players were calling us wanting to play in it."
Cedric Henderson was one of them.
"The people love basketball around here and they love memories. They don't get a chance to see what players have been up to its good to have this response. "
Games start Saturday and Sunday 9am at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse.
