Jackson man sentenced to 25 years in prison for murder

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) - A young Jackson man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison without parole for a stabbing death at a party.

Travis Tierney, 21, was sentenced for the death of Keith Hartley in January 2007.

Last month a jury convicted Tierney of second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of tampering with evidence.

Witnesses testified during the trial that Tierney became angry because he couldn't find any cocaine during a party.

A second defendant, William Covie Garner III, 27, will be tried later.
