Man charged in Rebecca Neeley's murder

Memphis police have charged 25-year-old Aaron Jeans with first-degree murder in the strangling death of 58-year-old Rebecca Neeley.

Neeley's body was found in a spare room in her Hickory Hill home last Wednesday night.

Hours after Neeley's death, an ATM camera recorded Jeans as he tried to used Neeley's bank card to withdraw money. The recording lead to Jeans being identified as the suspect.

Jeans was also driving Neeley's car, which officers later recovered.

Neeley's neighbors described her as a very friendly woman who was dedicated to the dogs she rescued.

Neeley ran the Helping Hounds Pet Therapy group, visiting hospitals and nursing homes with her greyhounds to help patients cope with their illnesses.

Mid-South Greyhound Adoption has been given the task of finding homes for Neeley's nine dogs, who were in the house when she was murdered.
