Pregnant mother of 3 shot dead

VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) - A pregnant mother of three who crouched behind a couch to seek safety from stray bullets was shot to death when a dispute over a video game erupted in gunfire.

Twenty-five-year-old Denise Jackson, who was four-and-a-half-months pregnant, was struck once in the neck by a stray bullet Thursday while hiding in her living room.

Vicksburg Police Lieutenant Bobby Stewart says the bullet was one of four fired into her home.

Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Twenty-six-year-old Eric DeShawn Jackson surrendered to police early today. Police say Eric Jackson, who was wanted on an April warrant for auto theft, and the victim were not related.

He was charged with two counts of murder, for the woman's death and for that of her unborn child. He also was charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling, felony weapon possession and four counts of aggravated assault.

Stewart says the gunfire was sparked by an ongoing feud between two families over a PlayStation 2 video game.
