YOUR TURN: Lynda Doss on utility assistance cuts

This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Lynda Doss. Doss is unhappy that the City of Memphis terminated its utility assistance program which was designed to help working poor people pay their utility bills. Doss's frustration is not just about the utility assistance program.

In her words:

"It saddened me to hear that Memphis is stopping the utility assistance program. People are already suffering enough trying to get to work, buy groceries, and make their house payments. Property taxes are going up, utilities are going up, but salaries are not. People sit on committees and say, 'What would it hurt to go up, just a couple of dollars?' Well, a dollar here, a dollar there, adds up when everything else is going up.  Somehow there have to be answers. These people wouldn't run their household expenses like they do the government."

That's Lynda Doss's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
