Ziuru Zhu and Marina Law make beautiful music together and solo. They're only eight-years-old, but according to their piano teacher, Judith Fairchild, they are already accomplished piano players.

"It’s a thrill to get two like these two, who have both the natural ability and the passion...the love for it," Fairchild said in a recent interview.

Ziuru, a third grade student at Dogwood Elementary School, won the 2008 Tennessee Music Teachers Association Piano Competition for her grade level, and the International Young People’s Piano Competition in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Marina, a second grade student at Macon Hall Elementary School, also won the 2008 TMTA competition and IYPPC.

Being gifted doesn't men forgoing hard work and discipline, even for little girls who love playing things, too.   For instance, "When you play outside and ride bikes," Marina said.

"You like to play, but you have to practice piano before you play," Ziuru said. "You're seeing your friends outside, but you have to practice piano or you can't go outside."

All that practicing apparently paid off. Marina and Ziuru are set to debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City on September 13th.  It will be their first appearance on that stage, but most likely, not their last.
