Girl's USTA National Championship Hits Memphis

One of the biggest Junior tennis tournaments out there is happening this week in Memphis, drawing 200 of the best players from around the country.  It's the USTA Girl's 18 and under National Clay Court Championship at the Racquet Club.

8 of the top 10 players in the country are here vying for the crown as well as college scholarships. 85 different schools are here as well scouting the talent. The winner will receive a bye into next year's Cellular South Cup.

A couple local girls in this years tournament...Germantown's Catherine Harrison loses in the 2nd round 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 to Danielle Collins from St. Petersburg Florida.

But Houston High's Allison Hodges is a WINNER. She defeats Jenna Langhorst 3-6, 6-4, 2-3 when the Illinois resident had to retire because of the heat. So Hodges advance to play 17 seed Stefan Hoffpauir (Escondido, CA) tomorrow not before 9am.
