Police capture robbery suspect

Memphis police have captured a suspect wanted in the armed robbery of a Hickory Hill business late Monday morning.

Officials said the suspect robbed ABC Wireless on Raines Road around 11:20am Monday.  The owner of the store said the man entered his business at pointed a gun at an employee's head while instructing another employee to give him cash.

The man left the scene of the robbery in a dark colored Dodge Stratus, and was pursued by police for a short time. During the chase, the suspect was said to have struck several other vehicles with his car.

The suspect eventually wrecked his car near the intersection of Lamar Avenue and Shelby Drive, fleeing the scene on foot.

After hours of searching, police located the man hiding in a dirt field late Monday afternoon.

The suspect has not yet been charged, and officials have not released his name.

No injures were reported at the scene of the robbery.
