The Next Best thing to being on the U.S. Olympic Basketball team...is working out with the team.
Memphis Grizzlies Rookie Guard O.J. Mayo is getting just that experience this week in Las Vegas...as a member of the U.S. National Select squad..
They are the top rookies from this years' nba draft class...
Their charge, make sure Team USA, made up of All-Stars like Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James, is ready to take on the World when the Olympics get underway later this Summer.
Mayo says the Select squad was a bit 'awestruck' in its' first workout with Team USA, but should settle down and give them a better run in their next practice.
He says it's all about the competition, and anytime you get to wear your Country on your chest it's something special.
Mayo is on the U.S. Select squad along with former University of Memphis star Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls.
The Select Squad will train with Team USA through Wednesday.
You can see the Olympics on TV-5 and NBC beginning August 8th.
