Medtronic to bring new jobs to Memphis

New high-salary jobs will soon be available in Memphis.

Thursday, city and county leaders joined VIP's of Medtronic to cut the ribbon on a new wing at Memphis' Medtronic Campus, in the Nonconnah Business Park. 

Company officials say the 6 story, 180,000 square foot building will open the door to 600 new medical manufacturing and research jobs in Memphis, offering an average salary of $76,000 annually.

Medtronic designs, manufactures, and sells equipment that offers a wide range of neurological and spinal therapies they say are unmatched in their industry.

"The expansion gives the opportunity consistent with our growth to add jobs," said Stephen La Neve at Medtronic Memphis.  "We have a tremendous number of scientists, engineers and clinicians, in addition to other functional areas.  It just lets us better fulfill the mission."

Last year, the company's revenues hit $13.5 billion.  It employs more than 38,000 worldwide.
