Weedon Out as MIAA Director?

The Shakeup in the Administration of the Memphis City Schools is apparently having a trickle down effect on all other levels of school activities.

By trickle down, that means some long time administrators are out, with little, or no explanation.

One of those is M.I.A.A. Director Wayne Weedon.

A former University of Memphis Football Lineman, Weedon has guided the City Schools Athletics program for the last 10-years..and has led the department to many system-wide improvements..

Some include safety, such as replacing the old wooden bleachers at High School Stadiums with new aluminum ones..

To overseeing the replacement of Old Crump Stadium...

Plus, better rehab facilities for the Athletes, to implementing tools to track athletes academic Progress...

I spoke to Weedon Monday afternoon by phone...

He wouldn't confirm he's being replaced, and said any announcement should come from the City Schools.

The MIAA Football Jamborees are set for August 14th and 15th.

The Regular season begins Friday August 22nd, with the Bridges Kickoff Classic Saturday the 23rd at the Liberty Bowl.
