Firefighters battle blaze in vacant warehouse

Firefighters in Memphis battled a stubborn blaze Wednesday afternoon in a vacant building at 736 Dudley Street, near Sledge Avenue in Memphis.

Multiple crews battled the blaze, which broke out sometime after 1:00 p.m., and could be seen for miles.

Along with the fire, crews were forced to deal with temperatures near 100 degrees.

Firefighters said the building had no power, and called the fire "suspicious."

The building is the former DeSoto Hardwood and Flooring Company.  A search of the Shelby County Property Assessor's website showed the building is owned by the Memphis Housing Authority.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries.
