YOUR TURN: Mary Dowling on repeat offenders

WMC-TV V.P. & General Manager Lee Meredith WMC-TV V.P. & General Manager Lee Meredith

This week's "Your Turn" segment goes to Mary Dowling, the director of St. Peter Manor, a senior living center in Midtown Memphis. Dowling wrote to thank us for coverage of the arrest of a suspect who assaulted a 79-year-old woman who lives at the center. She was particularly upset that this repeat offender was not behind bars.

In her words:

"It is unfathomable to me that someone with this kind of record is still on the street, especially since he has committed violent offenses before.  It seems this man has made a career of preying on vulnerable people, and he needs to be punished sufficiently and not just get a slap on the hand.  The idea that he could get out again so quickly has my residents very nervous and distressed, and that makes me mad.  Give this man the punishment he deserves."

That's Mary Dowling's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
