MSNBC host criticizes Tinker ad

A controversial ad from congressional candidate Nikki Tinker's camp earned her an unflattering spot in national cable news Wednesday night.

Tinker was featured on MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olberman" for her most recent ad, which criticizes Congressman Steve Cohen's votes on education.

Olberman sharply criticized the ad, calling it shameful and disturbing. He said the fact that Tinker says, "While he is in our churches, clapping his hands and tapping his feet, he's the only senator who thought our kids shouldn't be allowed to pray in school," can have a disturbing meaning because Cohen is Jewish.

"It has no place for a democratic candidate, nor a republican candidate, nor a white candidate, nor a black candidate," said Olberman. "It is shameful. Nikki Tinker...today's worst person in the world."

Cohen held a news conference at his Midtown home Wednesday to speak out against his opponent's controversial ad campaign. Last week, Tinker ran an ad linking Cohen to the Ku Klux Klan.

Tennessee's 9th district primary race will be decided at the polls Thursday.
