Cash proposes turning Frasyer High into school for overage students

He mentioned it to business leaders earlier this week. Now, Memphis City School leaders are planning to follow Dr. Kriner Cash's plan that would turn Frasyer High School into a school for overage students.

The superintendent's plan includes evening classes and nearly a year round schedule.

The school would not just be for older students but for those earmarked for alternative schools.

Tuesday, Dr. Cash addressed business leaders at Memphis Rotary and pitched his plan for removing overage students from the classroom.

"So retention overage for grades, suspensions, expulsions and truancy, they work together to create a population that is really the issue in our schools," Cash said.

Memphis City Schools expects to more than double its capacity at alternative schools from 700 students to 1,500 students by the end of the school year.
