Wainwright Better in Second Outing with Redbirds

It's Take Two for Cardinals reliever Adam Wainwright with the Memphis Redbirds.

The 'Birds hosting New Orleans at AutoZone Park Monday Night

Wainwright struggled in his first Rehab Start against the Zephyrs last Friday, throwing just 27 pitches and allowing 3-runs.

Tonight he's much sharper, going 3 innings, striking out two.

He did give up a couple runs... Mike Nickeas stripes one off the wall in left scoring a run.

But overall Wainright says he feels a lot better out there...the velocity is back in the low 90's and he's making progress.

The Redbirds lose by the way 3-2.

After the game, Wainwright had these comments.

"In the 3rd inning I was feeling good. In fact the last batter was the strongest I felt in the game. I don't ever think about my finger anymore and that's a positive."

Wainwright is scheduled to make at least One More Start with the Redbirds.

The 'Birds open a series against the Round Rock Express Tuesday night at AutoZone Park.
