Action News 5 Fundraiser for the Orange Mound Fire Victims

Wednesday, Action News 5 and radio stations from across the Mid-South held a fundraiser in the parking lot of the WMC-TV 5 studios to raise funds for the survivors and victims of the August 16 fire in Orange Mound.

The tragic fire broke out in the early morning hours of August 16th at a home on Baltimore Avenue in Orange Mound. Seven people, including five children, died in the blaze.

During Wednesday's fundraiser, over $20,000 was donated by citizens from across the Mid-South. Some, like the Memphis Fire Association, made donations as large as $1,000. Others donated tens, twenties, and other amounts.

All money raised will go into the Poole Family Fund, which has been set up through Regions Bank. Funds will be used to help the family with funeral arrangements, and for the future needs of the fire's survivors.

Though Wednesday's fundraiser is over, donations can still be made at any Memphis area Regions bank. Click here to find a location near you.
