Family plans to continue Galtelli shoe business

He repaired shoes in Midtown Memphis for decades.

Now, even though the owner of Galtelli's died, the family said the business will continue.

Ralph Galtelli touched so many lives.

Tonight, family and friends are saying goodbye to a man who ran a legendary Memphis business for nearly 60 years

Galtelli died Sunday after losing his battle with cancer.

Galtelli had been in the shoe repair business since he was fourteen years old. 

He purchased Galtelli shoe service on Union Avenue from his father. 

He later formed the Memphis Shoe Repair Association.

Galtelli received a number of awards for his contributions.

He also made the cover of Memphis Magazine and was just recently given the key to the city. 

"He could smile and warm the hearts of just about everybody he came in contact with.  He was a man of few words and when he spoke you listened," Galtelli's sister June Acuff said.

The shop will remain open. Galtelli's daughter plans to run it.

Ralph Galtelli was 72 years old.
