YOUR TURN: Old enough to drink?

This week’s “Your Turn” segment goes to Ken Oliver. Oliver wrote in to support a controversial plan to lower the drinking age from 21 to 18.

The plan was proposed by 100 college presidents from around the country. It was immediately condemned by Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Oliver agrees with the college presidents.

In his words:

"You can vote, drive, serve in the military, get married, sign a contract, have jury duty and be tried as an adult. The decision of a soldier in a combat zone to kill or not kill is a much more serious decision than having a drink. Also, what is this silly law about showing an ID no matter what your age is to buy alcohol? I take extreme offense in being asked by someone for my ID if I buy a beer. I am over 60 and served in Vietnam, I think I deserve more respect than that."

That’s Ken Oliver’s turn. Now it’s your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
