Police bust meth lab in Berclair neighborhood

At a house in the 5000 block of Byron, in the Berclair neighborhood of Memphis, police busted a meth lab Wednesday.

Investigators are not saying how the meth lab was discovered.
Debbie Canada and her family watched the news unfold from their front porch.

Bottles and buckets of chemicals on the front lawn a few doors down were a big clue to what was cooking.

"I have a two year-old granddaughter and that's what I was kind of worried me when I found out," neighbor Debbie Canada said.

Investigators are not yet going into detail about how much meth they found. But they said two people were arrested.

Federal, state, and local agencies soon descended. It took more than six hours for them to clean it up.

Donna Motta and her husband are glad it did not blow up.

"When I moved over here in 2000 it wasn't that bad, and it's just getting worse," Motta said.

Two years ago, a similar meth lab was discovered in a house on Owen Avenue, just a few blocks away from Wednesday's bust.
