FedExForum becomes temporary home of displaced circus animals

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - FedEx Forum, home of the Memphis Grizzlies and Tigers, is now the temporary home of six white Bengal tigers, three Asian elephants, and five dachshund dogs.

Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey circus got word they needed to evacuate Friday.

"When we found out we had to move from Jackson on Friday evening within two hours the animals were all packed up and we were moving here," production manager Jason Gibson said.

Elephants Bunny, Suzy, and Minnie adjusted quickly to life at the Forum.

Animals are not the only evacuees at the Forum. So are the circus' cast and crew of more than 100.

The biggest adjustment for both humans and animals is the waiting game.

"We are in show mode, want to put on a show, not used to waiting," Gibson said.

But waiting is what they will do, in the comfort of FedEx Forum.

The circus will stay in Memphis until they find out if the show will go on in Jackson or not.

Their priority now is to stay out of the way of evacuation efforts in Jackson.
