Redbirds End Best Season Since 2000

Hurricane Goo-Stav scored a direct hit on the Memphis Redbirds. They set a franchise attendance record last night with some 18,600+ on hand at Autozone Park. Storm evacuees in Memphis for a few days no doubt helped.

The Redbirds put the wraps on their best season since 2000 Monday against Oklahoma.   As has been their trademark this season, the Redbirds battled to the bitter end. Tied 1-1 in the 7th, D'Angelo Jimenex drove in the go-ahead run. The Redbirds win the finale 4-2, to finish the season 8 games over .500, 2nd in their division 8 games behind the Iowa Cubs.

Now the organization will work on a new contract with the St. Louis Cardinals. The current one expired today.
