Remnants of Gustav spawn Mid-South tornado

The remnants of Hurricane Gustav spawned a tornado Tuesday in North Mississippi.

A small tornado touched down in the city of Paris, Mississippi, about 15 miles south of Oxford.

While the storm didn't cause any significant damage, it did prove what's left of Gustav is packing quite a punch. The storm had residents looking frantically to the skies.

It was business as usual Tuesday at Paris General Store, until Cassie Babb noticed something a bit unusual. "Just like a little...the clouds spinning in the air like a funnel cloud. It was right above the store here."

With her eyes on the sky, Babb didn't realize a trained weather spotter had just seen a twister. It reportedly made a brief touchdown shortly after 4:00 pm off highway 9W near Paris.

"It was kinda scary," said Babb.
