As the Liberty Bowl Classic Football game prepares for its' 50th annual showdown, an unfamiliar name is popping up on the list of teams for the Bowl to consider..

How 'bout the Vanderbilt Commodores?

Vandy is off to an unexpected 4-and-0 start..and is 2-and-0 in the S.E.C.

The Commodores are rolling after a come from behind win at Ole Miss last Saturday, along with victories over South Carolina.. Miami of Ohio, and Rice.

Strong Offense from Chris Nixon and Company...plus, some straight up Defensive Toughness from players like Linebacker Chris Marve, a redshirt Freshman from Memphis White Station High...who made a game saving strip off Dexter McCluster last week...And Safety Ryan Hamilton, a Football Writers Association National Player of the Week....

Liberty Bowl Executive Director Steve Ehrhart scouted the Vandy/Ole Miss game..

He says the Commodores could be calling Memphis Home for the Holidays.

"Vanderbilt hasn't been to abowl game in 25 years so its fun to see their enthusiasm." Ehrhart says. "We're going to be watching them closely. Vanderbilt would be a great bowl team in the Liberty Bowl's 50th anniversary."

The Commodores have this week off..

The unblemished record will be severely challenged when they Host 16th Ranked Auburn in their next game October 4th.
