Grizzlies add another international player

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The Memphis Grizzlies have signed forward/center Malick Badiane of Senegal to their training camp roster, adding even more to the international flavor of their team.

The Grizzlies announced Tuesday they added the 6-foot-10, 240-pound Badiane. He played for their summer team in Las Vegas and averaged 4.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in five games. He was a second-round pick of the Houston Rockets in 2003, and the Grizzlies acquired his draft rights as part of their three-way trade in February with the Rockets and New Orleans.

The 24-year-old played in France last year and played for the Senegalese National Team at the FIBA Africa Championship in 2003, 2005 and 2007.

Memphis already has Iranian center Hamed Haddadi and Marc Gasol of Spain.
