We're on the eve of an historic election. We will be choosing the nation's first African-American President or the first female Vice President.

Understandably, interest in this election has been intense. Throughout the Mid-South, there are other races on the ballot that are also receiving a lot of attention. And so, I'm reminded of the famous quote, "Bad politicians are sent to Washington by good people who don't vote."

I'm passing it on to you as a reminder to register to vote. Monday, October 6 is the last day to register. We have information about how to register to vote on our website,

(Click here to find out where you can register.)

The League of Women Voters has discovered that the single most powerful component in moving someone from being a nonvoter to becoming a voter is when they are asked by someone they know. So, I'm asking you, "Have you registered to vote yet?"

That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email or call 800-465-1210.
